I've mentioned before about the National Australian Convention of Amateur Astronomers or NACAA, which is coming up next Easter. It's being held in Frankston, Victoria and my society, the Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society is hosting it.

This post is to make you aware of the event, and to invite you to attend or even contribute as a presenter. The perception of these events is that they're aimed at academic or similar level astronomers, and while there will no doubt be some high level discussion, this convention is for everyone and no matter what category of astronomer you put yourself in, you'd be welcome.

Information on NACAA has been forwarded to all Astro societies, but as some of you don't belong to these groups this may be the first time you've been aware of it.

The website is www.nacaa.org.au if you'd like to know more....

Cheers, Richard Pollard, NACAA Organising Committee.

Looks like a great event, and I certainly recommend those who are able to attend, to get along to it.

I'll be forwarding Richard an IceInSpace presentation of some sort to put up on the boards down there, unfortunately I don't think i'll be able to attend this time around but who knows, I'll continue to sweet talk to the wife and it may still be possible :)

I think it's a good idea for the IceInSpace community to get involved in more of the real "amateur astronomy" that's going on in Australia, and it would be great to have some members participating or bringing back reports from the event!

I've added the convention on the Upcoming Events page, hopefully some more people will see it. For the latest, of course visit the official site: www.nacaa.org.au
