Last night (5 Sept) I was standing at Hornsby Station waiting for a bus the time was 18:14 and I looking west at the sight of Venus/Jupiter/Spica that has been so prominent is the evenings recently. About 10 degrees to the upper right of Venus I saw a dim but moving object tracking down and to the right it brightened considerably for a couple of seconds and then faded away. Any ideas what it was I saw?

Could've been either an iridium flare or a satellite.. You can put your lat/long into heavens-above and see what flares/satellites passed over in the past 24 hours and see exactly what it was.

Would have made a good theme based shot if I'd had my camera with me ....

Thanks for the link Ice.
