Hi all last night I caught the first half of the Hawkings special on the Discovery Channel.

the idea that gravity neither sucks nor pulls but is rather a distortion in the time/space fabric is intriguing.

Hi Alex, I most assuredly do not have the math to follow the argument but when they did a visual with a stick, a trampoline like set up, and a penny it certainly made sense.

Roll a penny across a flat trampoline it goes straight. Push in the center with the stick and the penny still attempts to go straight but ends up in a spiral. Much akin to a ball on a roulette wheel.

It will require a much better educated individual to argue for or against the math but when I saw the demonstration it certainly was a 'gotchya'
moment.

I too wish I had the ability to engage these wonderful concepts a a higher level but remember at least these examples offer a way to fit difficult conceptual matters within our human experience.
