I wish we had more storms like that down south. Was it raining at the time? The trouble I always have with lightning is trying to keep the lens dry.. I usually end up with big rain drops all over the image..

I love a good lightning shot!
I dunno about other people, but I find it best to get shots of lightning as the storm approaches from the west before the rain starts. Once the rain starts, it's often all over for me. Unfortunately I don;t have long enough views to be able to capture lightning from storms that are >5ks away. (Which is always the safest way:whistle:).

Nice - I love lightning photos .
Can you indicate the lens , f no , exposures , etc for each .
Is that your dome in the foreground , nicely framed btw.

Thanks for the reply everyone. As for the F/n. exposures these are taken with 30D lens 17-40mm EF L USM lens. Shutter opened for about 5sec to 10 sec. After 130 photos this is yhe pick of the lot.
