Hi everyone, I was asked today to image NGC 1763. To be honest I had no idea what this NGC was let alone where it was. Starry night was used to find the object and even this didn't give very much of an idea what I was imaging.
Here is the result. 8 x 10 minute images captured with QHY8 and Vixen VC200L at f9 all frames were calibrated with flats and bias files.

Rather a pretty area above the LMC containing several nice little nebulous areas and a nice cluster.

Very nice Doug :)

There's an absolute plethora of stuff in and around the LMC that's ripe for imaging, isn't there! There are some things I'd love to capture in there such as some very pretty supernova remnants too. Thank for the inspiration! I think I'd like to concentrate on that area for a while when I get to see the sky again.

Looks awesome Doug. Sounds like you're really enjoying the QHY8.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. This is a very busy area of the sky with a lot of hidden gems. I will have to spend some time on both the L&SMC areas and see what turns up. The VC200L is ideal for separating individual targets in this rich field at both F9 and F6.4.

That is a great image Doug. Next to 30 Dor I think 1763 is the best nebula in the LMC.
It is on my DSO map. http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=25155&d=1175207414

Very nice image Doug. I agree with you about this being an area full of gems. I recently acquired Mati Morel's atalses of LMC and SMC and am looking forward to the next dark clear nights for a more informed prowl than I've previously managed. I'll make sure NGC 1763 is on the list.

Thanks Bert. Looks like I missed the little Glob so must make it on one of my next runs and maybe mosaic the field.

That is a super image.

You have a hot combo there with your scope and camera. I suggest you milk it for all its worth. Not all scopes and cameras jive together well and when you get one that does you should really use it hard.

Greg.

nice shot of a fine target

Thanks Greg, I would really love to give the scope a work out but will have to be happy with some happy snaps until the weather clears and work allows. I have a good list of targets and great plans but all on hold till later by the look of it.

Thanks Narayan. I'm getting bored with life and the weather again. It's been a bad year. 3 Astro camps and it has rained at them all. Someone on my wifes side I think.

That's a very pleasing image Doug, I looked at it for some time as it has a real dark spookyness to it but a shine at the same time, very nice.

Thanks for the comment Mike. The spookyness may well be the result of a slightly over darkened background (somewhat inky in appearance) more data would have improved the forground and reduced the need to mask the background but hey thats all I have. The way the weather is playing I doubt I will get anything more before Christmas. 80mm of rain here in the last 2 days so it is wet underfoot and should it clear the dew will pose major problems even with the VC200L.

Nice work Doug. I've come back a few times to this image to survey the scene. Lovely colours and details on display. Good processing. Well done.

Thanks Jase. I will be doing a bit more work on this area at a shorter focal length with much longer subs to try and capture the outer nebula area.
