I was down the coast this weekend. It was a dewey night, but clearish so I set the Canon and kit lens on the tripod, framed the next door neighbors roof for a reference point, and proceeded to manually trip the shutter every thirty seconds (using my wristwatch) for thirty second exposures.

The lens kept dewing up, but I very carefully continued to wipe it with a tissue while trying not to move it between shots.

I think the dew actually added some nice effects, so next time, I wont allow it to make me give up short, just persist despite the varied shots.

Hope you like it. I am definately going to do more of this up in the drier air of the Canberra mountains.

Very nice work Barry.
I love these Astro-Time Lapse movies - well done.
If you intend to do more, here's a link to a timelapse forum. They've got a section dedicated to Digital Astrophotography with some awesome examples.

Thanks Doug.

Yes, I've seen his work before at timescapes. He was the one who inspired me to give it a go. I have been chatting to him a little bit and am now off to practice!

Cheers,

Baz.

Very interesting Barry. Another concept to astroimaging. Looks great but I think it would have been better with a great backdrop instead of the house.
Nice work just the same.

hi baz,

the ideas good. however to me its a little bit jerky (could me my internet connection though ) so maybe have the individual frames taken sooner than 30 seconds apart?

Yes Ben. As a first attempt, it was a fantastic learning experience. Next attempt will be 30 second exposures with 10 second breaks.

Looking at the top of Kosiosco over the Christmas break I think.
