Hi!

After a long time of abstinence from astronomy I made my first pic with the modified Canon 350d.
With the Canon 50mm f/1,4 I took a picture of Orion.

This area is rearly a hot one. Here you can see the full pic (1700x1100)

(5x200s and 2x70s,ISO 800,f/2,5)

It was nice for me to come back to this forum. Many great pics!

So he has!! Had to go back for a second gulp!!
Nice work Werner.

One thing though - looks like you've had to do a bit of noise reduction on the image - you described the area as "hot".Would that be fair or am I being pedantic?
I find higher iso settings just don't work so well on the shorter FL lengths - resulting images are very noisy.
I intend to try this same shot soon with my 50mm f1.8 so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If I could get a shot up to the standard of this one I would be very happy though.:)
Cheers
Doug:thumbsup:

A wonderful perspective Werner, and one not often seen. You've done a great job - and with the bare essentials of astrophotography. To pick up B33 and the loop, , M42, Flame and Witchhead all in one frame and with such clarity is remarkable. Great effort.

That's a very nice image .... I'd forgotten how good a widefield a 50mm f/1.4 can do - I've a 50mm f/1.2 on my old Minolta XD5.

Wonder if there are Minolta XD series to Canon EF adapter rings out there somewhere ?
