Hi Guys, as one knows sometimes the paint work on any scope can get chipped here and there whilst it is pulled down and then reassembled.

My Tak has a couple of these chips, and was wondering if there is a touch up paint available that one may be able to buy.

Any help would be appreciated. ;)

Leon

My FS60-C clamshells have a couple of chips too Leon, so I thought I'd get a jar of this in:

I made the mistake once of using low tack PVC insulating tape to hold some cotton crosses over the end of my FS60C for diffraction spikes. They were on for one evening. On peeling the tape off, it took the paint off the dewshield.

There is no bond between the white paint and the Aluminium. I'm guessing Takahashi don't use a proper etch primer :(

Regards,
Rob

I've had double-sided tape (strong 3M stuff) on my FS60-C's dewshield holding cable routes for the heaters, and upon peeling them off it was fine.... so not sure what happened to yours.

Alex - my dings are only on one of my FS60-C's clamshells, one of which I bought second hand, and not the scopes - in any way. I'm a little rectal when it comes to marking these.

Sell it Leon and get a new one...and I will help...mmm chipped paint such a shame knocks the value off ...

I have a guitar that is very knocked about but guess what sounds great..try not to worry it is nothing ...chips are like wrinkles on ones face..reflects experience and character.

True Alex, but no mate I will be keeping this one, they don't make the Quadruplet Flourites any more.

The chipping isn't bad really, just where the clam shell fasteners fall down and hit the tube, not very tuff paint I might add.

Leon

If you turn the lights out while you are imaging you wont notice.
I had no idea it was a quadruplet that is a very nice instrument. Cheers

My Taks are all scratched and chipped to buggery, that includes the mount too. I don't have a permanent set-up so I just have to live with it.

But I guess a dirty Ferrari is cooler than a showroom clean one, it shows it gets plenty of use and anyway something only has resale value if you plan to sell it and the optics are as good as the day it was delivered.

Ah Monty, good point, it dose get plenty of use, and I just get a bit, what is the word I'm looking for, attached maybe, I just love to use them and keep them pristine all the time, but that is just me.

Doesn't the man in Cleve, SA carry this item? Or is it not made by Takahashi?

Yea Right Andrew, :scared: you are also a funny fellow , this thread has had more activity in the last 30 minutes than my post for the sale of my 50mm, so make an offer.

Wish I could Leon, but I've got no more space for another lens.

I have space, but no cash... Perhaps you could scratch the body of it and knock a few (7 or 8) hundred off the price...

I'd love the 50 1.2, my 1.4 gives me the warm fuzzy feeling that we all know and love, but a 1.2 would be a whole other ball game! :) Too bad my finances dont allow for it...
