Hi Guys, have a look at these two, and tell me what you think, I'm pretty tuff, so if you don't like them please say, I won't be offended, all feed back is good. ;)

Anyway whilst waiting for the horse to rise a bit more I took 6 frames of the LMC, at 7 minutes each, then when the horse was a bit higher I took 6 frames of that as well.

All images were auto guided on the G11, through the Tak and with the modded 5D at 400 ISO, @ 7 mins each, with ICNR and flats applied, processed in Image Plus, and touched up slightly in PS2.

These are un cropped, full size widefields wide fields,

Also included is a single Raw Sub Frame of each image at 7 minutes, first the HH, and then LMC, hope you like them,

Also a cropped version of the HH, size 2184 x 1456, at the end

Leon

I like the 2nd and the 4th best for the contrast and colors but they all look pretty hot to me.

Excellent Leon. My pick of the bunch is also the last picture. Though I think most of the images could be boosted subtly in the green channel using curves. This would restored the blue hues. Good work.

The processed pics are all great, especially Number 2 IMHO - I love the wider field view of the Horsehead.

Yea Doug I have to agree, I love the wide field stuff as well, but I thought I would show both sides of the story, many thanks for your comments.

Fantastic effort Leon. The last one does it for me, but I also really like the WF. Considering the FSQ, how did you attain the diff spikes?

Thanks guys your comments are much appreciated, and Chris, I don't really do the spike thing very often, but in this case I decided to give the image some effect.

That huge Star usually ends up as a big white over cooked blob, so the spiking sort of hid that a bit.

Just made up a snug fitting square about 25, deep which fits nicely onto the dew shield and just used some fishing line at right angles acroos the front of the dew shield.

Ah ha! I'm not usually one for diffraction spikes (I suppose that I usually consider them a flaw) but they suit this image. Yeah - Alnitak is a bugger being so close to Flame and B33. Someone should have it moved.

Is that the name of that star

Great images Leon. :) The widefield of the HH has come out very nicely and so has the cropped version. Lots of detail and nice vivid colours.

It has been a while since I have taken an image of a deep sky object. Must be time for me to get back out there. ;)

Well done.

Love the 2nd, 4th and 5th Leon, especially 5, thats a corker!

By the way, in the last one, is that a double star at the top of the frame? Anyone? Seems to be from the bulge at a 8 o'clock? I'm too lazy to look it up, someone will answer I am sure.

Beautiful shots Leon.

Cheers

Chris

The FSQ106 + a full frame sensor gives an AWESOME field of view! absolutely stunning! :)

The wide horse does it for me!!
