* Hand crafted wooden case (refer image)

Notes:

Barry started making refractors decades ago, he commenced making hand crafted Fluorite refractors about 9 years ago when he made a 1/100 wave fluorite for myself (I was his first hand crafted fluorite) - this is the telescope in the image on my signature, and resides in my observatory, and is exceptional. This telescope has an incredible capability, and using exotica level eyepieces has achieved in excess of 1000 magnifications on the moon on nights of exceptional seeing capability.

Barry crafted the optics for this sale item - the 6 inch folded Fluorite Apochromatic refractor - for Jacob Apfelbaum (President of the Shoalhaven Astronomical Society, Nowra, NSW) three years ago. The design of this refractor objective is identical to my unit, thereby it's optical capability & performance is directly comparable.

I purchased the Quantum Mak Cass 8 inch (in Jacob's 27 Nov 2008 Ice In Space ad) from Jacob last week, and returned the 6 inch folded hand crafted refractor with me to Melbourne to support Jacob with his sale. Enquirers are welcome to deal direct with myself or with Jacob (however if dealing direct with Jacob be kind enough to copy me).

Jacob advertised this telescope on 27 Nov 2008 on Ice In Space, please refer to his ad for details and comments from others regarding Barry Adcock's capabilities as a glass specialist.

For my part I have been fortunate to retain the services of Barry Adcock to hand craft 4 telescopes for me, these are ALL 1/20 wave PLUS capability each, and perform to a standard that is NOT available commercially.

This project represents a unique opportunity to obtain an exceptional telescope at a give away price.

The system is being sold at $ 4,000 cash rate.

This rate does not even the cost for the glass, and at that the cost at the old exchange rates of 6 months ago.

Shipment locally, nationally and internationally is available at extra cost.

Thanks for looking.

G'Day Mate, A 6" Apochromatic refractor on a Dobsonian mount,,mmmmThat's interesting..what's it like on planets, and deep sky objects. When i saw 6" apochromatic refractor, i thought i would be seeing it on a HEQ6 Mount, then wollahhhh it's on a Dob mount..Please could you explain to me what the advantages are in this scope. I have had a 10" dob for about 12years now, i'm interested in this setup verymuch..Thanks..Lloydsscope...

Hi,
just interested in how you rated your own scope as 1/100 wave?

I know Barry well, and I've never known him to put a wave rating on anything he makes - just that they are as good as he can make them - which is VERY good, in fact &^%&% excellent!

I don't doubt the 1000x on the moon, since I've looked through a 6" of Barry's at 900x..........

Dear Enquirers,

1. The refractor was being used on a large Eq mount. However the Eq already has a large refractor on it, so I photographed the system on a dob box to enable photos to be available for enquirers.

2. The wavefront on my own personal unit was Barry's own comments made to me a few months after he crafted it for me. It was a rare occasion for Barry to make commentary on wavefront on any of the 4 telescopes he has crafted for me, as he usually does not make such commentary.

I tested the optic on the opthalmic comparator at Toyota's global centre for Metrology in Japan, and Barry's claims were a little light, it measured out a bit better than he recommended.

If you have further enquiry into the sale of this system you will need to refer to the previous ad from Jacob Apfelbaum on I In S.

The system has been returned to him for his further action on the sale.
Trust this assists.
