Hi guys,

Here are a few images that were taken last night at a dark sky location in SA. Using Astro 40D and FLT132 with Flattener.

Horse Head

Comaprised of 3 x 1200 and 1 x 600, and as luck would have it, I had a satellite pass through it again.
Darks subtracted, no flats or bias applied.
Processed in PS CS3

Thor's Helmet

Comprised of 1 x 600, 1 x 1200 and 1 x 1800, total of 1 hour exposure.
All @ ISO 800 with astro 40D, no darks, flat or Bias applied.
Processed in PS SC3.

NGC1365

Single 30 min sub @ ISO 800.
No Darks, Flats or Bias
Processed in PS CS3
Also added a cropped version. This is one of the nicest object I have photographed.

Thanks for Looking

Wonderful imaging Mark, three excellent imges. Thors helmet looks fantastic against that backdrop of stars and 1365 has great detail in it.

Top stuff.

Great portfolio of images on display. NGC1365 is showing some lovely extension to the arms. Pick of the bunch would be Thor's Helmut - the widefield vista sets the scene with very good colour balance. This is on my target list for this season. Thanks for sharing and well done.

All look great. Particularly like that NGC1365 and only one min sub! 30 mins - wow! The Astro 40D is working well indeed. I take it you still used the ICNR?

Thanks Craig,

No ICNR used in any images. The skies there were pretty dark, so noise was minimal.

Three amazing and superb pictures. Top work! I particularly like the galaxy, but the HH has amazing colors too.

Must take my scope down there sometime. Was thinking of Arkaroola but that's a 6 hour drive! Not so good in Somerton Park but still don't think I'd get the results you do, and that Astro must save you some time not doing darks.

Craig,

Arkaroola is definitely a must see once, twice I'm not so sure about.

It is pretty far and the last 130 click is shocking, unless you have 4WD.

The skies are amazing though!!

Not sure whether the SAAB is up to it. Might have to fly in from Parafield.
