Hi all, i finally decided to get myself a scope, it's a
12" Premium dob from Andrews
It comes with a right angled finder scope, a cooling fan,
and some ep's.
I also got with it a 30mm 2" ep, a 2x barlow and a cheshire.
The ep's that come with the scope are 6.5, 10, 15, 25mm,
I can't wait for it to arrive, and check out the views it will give.
What should i expect to see with this scope, and what would be the best targets for a first time scope user ?
I wish i had it now.....

Thanks Louie, i will enjoy it once it's here.
I don't know my way round the night sky to good as yet, and can only view to the south and the west from my back yard.
I have found a few fuzzy thingies in my big binno's, but couldn't make out any detail at all, but found them several times over a couple of weeks, they will be the first targets to get in my finder scope and try out different ep's, and to actually identify them on my sky charts.
Can't wait to see " planetaries nebs Galaxies to double stars , emission nebula's"

Frogman can tell you all about the view out of a 12" dob. From what I have seen, simply outstanding! Good choice, but hope you have a big car!

 No problems, nothing the van can't handle.
I did want an sct, lx200 gps 10" for imaging with my 350d, but i was finding it really hard to part with $5 odd thousand to get one, i still want one really bad, but i hope i will be almost as happy with my dob minus the tracking and goto.....

Im not sure what a 12inch LX costs, but its more than 5k !
For an extra 1k, you could fit an argo navis to your dob and have push to :)

congrats trevor!!! u got a 2" barlow right? that's probably one of the regrets that i have, was getting the 1.25 barlow. a 2" can still be used with 1.25's with the adapter..

Thanks el, i'm not to sure if it's a 2", i was in Kmart on my lunch break telling Lee that i had just sent back his extra binno mount, it was a spare of the moment impulse purchase, trying to remember everything i had read here about what to get and what not to get.
What is the difference between them, and why is the 2" better ?
Looks like i will find out when i open up the boxes:confused:

2" barlow = can use with both 1.25" and 2" eyepieces.
1.25" barlow = can only use with 1.25" eyepieces.
they're probably no different optically, but just for the fact that you're getting a 30mm 2" ep u might want to barlow it to get a 15mm out of it as well :D
