It's hulk is going back to Melbourne as museum exhibit .

As a kid in the early 70's I used to live in the suburbs right next to Mt Stromlo, just about every weekend I would take my packed lunch and go bike riding in the surrounding forests then up Stromlo for lunch and a look at the scopes in all their glory.

It's sad to see it leave but at the same time it will be great to see it fully restored.

It is great that they are going to restore it, except that they should have it where there are some nice dark skies ... like Central Victoria. I can think of a few nearby hills that would be perfect!

One of the chaps involved in the proposed restoration of it gave an interesting talk on this, with photos - at our local astronomy society meeting last week.

It is a challenge - wow !
