Had a go at re-processing my Horsehead nebula to give a stereo effect.
You need to use the cross-eyed approach to see it. Still takes some fiddling but this has a degree of appeal.
The flame nebula has a good 3D effect in the original.

The 3D effect is absolutely brilliant. Could I have some details on how to do these?

Did just a 3D on the flame nebula from this HH photo and it was amazing just how 3D it looks even in a small shot. The longer you stare at it the more the 3D effect with crossed eyes kicks in

I just altered the photo of the flame nebula above as it appears that if the saturation and contrast are increased then you get a far better or clearer 3D effect

Ive added a photo with all the pesky little stars removed to show what this action can do

Yes the effect is pretty effective on the flame, both with and without the stars.

I have to agree I think this one is better than the M42 stereo...
JPM's actions are rather fantastic I though..

I must be missing something. How do you get the stereo effect? Do you use polarised glasses or look cross eyed at the screen? If that's the latter I've been at it too and all I'm getting is a headache? . What's the proper technique?

go cross eyed far enough so you can see 3 images, hold your vision there and wait for your eyes to focus.. the middle image will be 3D

Got it. It looks cool actually. Various flat planes a bit like these old postcards that had different levels of depth when you change the angle you're viewing them at. Ok I'll go get a panadol now :P
