Some 950 nm IR Pics

Hi All
I haven't been getting much done in the way of Astro Pics done of late still waitng for the new equipment ( 12.5 RC and camera ) but did get a chance to take some shots with the Canon 350D that I IR converted some time ago the shots were taken with a 12 - 24 Sigma.

Adrian, You do this by removing the cameras internal IR filter...

When people mod their cameras for Astro use, they usually do this by removing the standard IR filter, and replacing it with a less aggressive IR filter by Hutech or Baader etc. The other way to do it is to remove the standard filter, and replace it with a clear piece of glass, allowing the camera to record IR wavelenghts. Because digital sensors are VERY sensitive to the IR end of the spectrum, the resulting images are rather dramatic and beautiful.... This is whats destined for my 350D as soon as my 5D mk 2 arrives! :)

Alex is right about those 2 options the only drawback with putting the filter over the lens is you are shooting blind ( the filtes are very dark ) and makes it difficult to compose te shot.
Thats why I went with the 3rd option and replaced the IR blocker with a 950 nm ( quite deep IR ) IR filter but this means the camera can't be used for anything else.

or the other option is to put an IR filter over the sensor, if you are game enough for an IR only camera..

I've been really getting into IR photography.
I'm still learning how to make the most of CS3 and the pics should improve a lot then.
These days 350s are quite cheap and Eric can do the conversion.
