Anyone know what the faint blue object is in the upper part of attached picture. It was moving much faster than the stars.
???? Bright object is Venus, taken early this evening - a comet maybe?

Definitely not a Comet Peter, you would indeed be a lucky man to capture a comet in such a short exposure, and so bright.
However what that object you mention in your image is difficult to work out, but I'm sure others here will come to the rescue.
Nice shot of Venus by the way. ;)

think it might be a close double - Sigma Sagittarii and Sigma Sagitarii B

Ta muchly - I didn't really thing it was a comet - just hoping :)
Oops, forgot to mention, it moved about its own length in 10 minutes - in relation to venus that is

Another thing - It's quite big. The image is a crop of a photo taken at 200mm only.........
Ah, now he tells the truth, if that is the case it is probably only lens flare, quite common when photographing very bright objects.
But I may be wrong,

Hmmmmm I wonder
Could be right - its the right colour and would explain the movement too ....... I'll try again without the UV filter.

It's the aliens' mothership. Hides most of the time along the line of sight to something very bright - like Venus - where NASA wouldn't look for it. It's only amateurs with small scopes who point them at bright plants and stars.
Sheesh, if you pointed Hubble at Venus it would probably fry the electronics.

Looks like lens flare to me.
I had a similar thing in this image of Venus I took recently. http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment_browse.php?a=50377
