Hi Everyone,

I hope I'm not posting to many images, and I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread. Please forgive me if it's inappropriate.
I took this image tonight (2-9-05) while there was backburning in the area.

Image was with a Canon 300D, 10-22mm EFS lens, ISO 200 at aprox 6 sec exp.

Hope you enjoy.

ditto great stuff

hey iceinspace members, a quick run down of how we at the forum can claim (like the politicians) full credit for any magazine exposure rocket boy may get. We have trained him from being a fledgling into a master craftsman.

Like a politician, lets put spin (political speak for lies)on his career so that we at the forum look really really good!

when andrew first came to the forum, remember his first feeble effort.
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=3884&stc=1&thumb=1 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=3884)
he tried very hard, but lets face it, his shot of jupiter doesn't even show the bands of jupiter let alone the colour!!! He needs our help

on our suggestion he then tried to take a picture of a falling star and again, the object is way out of wack, the timing out etc etc

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=3887&stc=1&thumb=1 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=3887)

we then thought he better go back to taking shots of planets to test the skills we all were so diligently educating him with.

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4056&stc=1&thumb=1 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4056)

this result surprised me as it is at night and who in their right mind takes pictures of star and planets when there is no sun to see by???? (he really needed some more help at this stage!)

With a lot of coaching from our fine selves, his next effort was starting to get it right.

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4114&stc=1&thumb=1 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4114)

again though, why would you leave the shutter open for 5 minutes? remember, take the shot and move on!!

but no, he stills leave the shutter open again, but must have listened to us a little and this time it was 3 mins
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4173&stc=1&thumb=1 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4173)

Finally after a lot of hard work from us and to be honest, i didn't think we would get there, the picture of a fire burning and jupiter and venus in the background (again leaving the shutter open, but hey, he doesn't want to listen to us!!)

When he accepts his award for excellence in space photography, we will all be there like all the extras when peter jackson won his academy award.

I for one will break down and cry and then thank everyone including my dog in my speech.

Rocket Boy will be allowed to look but not touch the award while we bask in his glory.

Enough crap.

David (and everyone),

The inspiration comes from you guys. A month ago I had no one to really share any images with.
It's like the old saying goes , "If a tree falls in the forest and no one there to hear it......"

When I came across IIS and the people in it,
who love to share and appreciate other peoples efforts,
a whole NEW WORLD opended up for me.
You guys are the reason for the images.

The honour is all mine, to be able to say, at the end of each new upload,

"Cheers and Enjoy"
