Selling my Orion StarShoot II Solar System Imager.

Retail price from Bintel is $259

The camera is flawless condition, and includes USB cable plus Orion CD with drivers & Maxim DL Essentials software.

I have decided to focus on wide field DSO imaging for now using a refractor, and will try my hand at planetary imaging again a couple of years down the track.

Specs and sales blurb:

Orion StarShoot II Solar System Imager

* Powerful StarShoot Solar System imager with 1.3 megapixel resolution works with most telescopes
* Shoot detailed colour images of the planets and lunar surface with just about any telescope
* 1/2" CMOS colour chip delivers a 1280 x 1024 resolution image to your computer via USB 2.0
* Camera collects multiple exposures at up to 30 frames per second
* Comes with Maxim DL Essentials software. Camera works with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, and Vista

Four times greater resolution than its predecessor and most competing models. You'll capture intricately resolved images that previously only the most skilled astrophotographers could achieve. This more powerful StarShoot Solar System imager works with just about any telescope and comes with Maxim DL Essentials Edition software to give you start-to-finish control over the camera and imaging process.
A bigger, 1/2" Sony CMOS colour chip replaces the 1/3" chip in the previous imager and delivers a 1280 x 1024 resolution live video image to your computer. The Sony chip provides progressive-scan imaging that uses all pixels in an exposure. The small 5.2um x 5.2um pixel size further enhances resolution. It outputs 24-bit RGB images at 15 frames per second at full resolution, or 30 FPS at VGA resolution (640 x 480). Includes an IR filter.
Focusing the image is a snap. Take individual exposures or let the camera automatically collect multiple exposures of up to 0.5 seconds each. The software lets you instantly adjust the gain, contrast, exposure length, and more. Once captured, the images can be aligned and stacked to produce a final, richly detailed colour portrait! Your computer delivers power via the camera's USB cable (USB 2.0 high-speed connection is recommended). The camera's 1.25" nosepiece is threaded for use of filters.

Selling for $150 including registered postage within Aust.

Attached below are Orion's standard picture of the camera, plus a couple of images taken recently through a Celestron C8 OTA. Have not had a chance to image Saturn, and am about to sell my C8 to a fellow amateur astronomer to raise funds for Xmas.

Please send a PM if interested.

Cheers,
Jeff
