I've never seen one like this before.:shrug:
It's chubbier than a cockroach, but flatter than a christmas beetle.
As you can see, the markings are very bright and symmetrical and they continue under the body.
Wow, nicely coloured markings.

I've sent the pics to the Queensland Museum, see what they make of it.
If it's a new species I think I'll call it jjjnetticus chocminticus.:lol:

May I respectfully suggest jjjnetticus chchchocminticus but in reality it's Eupoecila australasiae (http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_scarabs/FiddleBeetle.htm)otherwise known as the Fiddle beetle present in most of Australia including Tasmania but not WA.
