Great mod El. I had the same setup and finally took my finder scope off altogether as its not really needed with Telrad and low power, wide angle eyepiece. Don't rush into the right angle finder, maybe you can use that money for something else.

Cheers

Ah El, I was wondering where you were up to with your finder! $64 landed is awesome.

You're scope is starting to look less like a water heater, and more like a Transformer.. :)

Be interested in hearing your first light report.

I find my right angle viewer invaluable . Can I get a telerad with a right angle viewer? I have a dob but would find it hard to use the telerad without the right angle viewer as I wear specs and view with left eye so dont seem to get close enough to use an ordinary telerad. I have a laser pointer also but still trying to sort that out

i don't reckon it looks that great.. but i hope it'll be functional.. looks abit.. mmm.. kinda unbalanced.. which all these things round the top of the scope... doesn't look like i'll be able to get first light tonight now.. sky's clear and beautiful.. but the father in law needs me to do some cabling for his house so we can watch the rugby in his shed/bar tomorrow night. if it's a quick job(which i doubt it will be) i might still get a chance for tonight.. but at this stage it's unlikely. Tomorrow night's definately a no-goer.. as i will probably be too legless to do any observing. ;) :P :D

Congrats EL! Yup, long as it works to your satisfaction, looks R secondary. Looking forward to your report.

Like many, I like my Telrad too!

I took off my finderscope as I found I was not using it...I preferred the Telrad...

I do have the dew shield plus that has a mirror to make it "right angle" functional...although I have not had much joy with the "right angle" aspect it does work as a dew shield...

You will need a sock or stubby holder or something to keep the dew off of the telrad...

Cheers
