Astro Parks

We have National Parks to preserve nature. We need Astro Parks to show the sky to everyone.
A hilltop with no trees and no lights at least 10 km from the edge of town (50 km from the edge of big cities) where people can see the stars and our biggest natural wonder the Milky Way. A place to use binoculars or set up a telescope. How can we get them?

Totally agree Glen, but I think that would be a big task, as so many don't really understand Astronomy, until they have actually seen some objects at a dark site

The only problem I see with that Glen, is that you cannot control who uses the land.
After a couple of unpleasant experiences at star parties, I'd like to know that all the participants have been vouched for.
Nothing spoils a clear dark sky more than an idiot jabbering gibberish in your ear while shining a bright red light down your OTA.:screwy::(
