I have just recieved a 12" Bintel Dobsonian as part of my employers loyalty scheme after working for the company for 10 years, I have only had it for a couple of weeks and have only had a chance to see a couple of things through it so far. I have a 2"29mm televue eyepiece and a 1.25" 19mm tele vue eyepiece. I would like to take photos using my Dob but have no idea where to start, can anybody tell me what sort of camera is best to use for photos and what other equipment I would need to use this??:help:

Hi Mandy

What a great long-service present! :)

Taking photos with a dobsonian can be done, but it's quite difficult and the results will always be quite limited.

Have a read of this article which describes some techniques:
Astrophotography with a Dob (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/63-201-0-0-1-0.html)

You're best off starting with the afocal technique, and just using your camera to point into the eyepiece and take pictures of the bright ol' moon :)
