Hi All,

On Tuesday evening the skies were clear so I was out taking some shots at twilight of the conjunction of the Moon and Jupiter, decided some even wider field shots including venus and the milky way would be nice too.

I was taking 30s subs at five minute intervals, aiming to stack them later to bring out the Milky Way. I got a surprise when one of the subs included the ISS as well.

Shot with a Nikon D300, 17-200mm lens @ 17mm, piggybacked on a Meade RCX400GPS. Stacked in DeepSkyStacker, post-processed in PS.

Cheers
Stuart

That's brilliant. Could you please explain to a newbie what the green blob is just below the moon? I'm assuming the Jupiter and Venus are the warmer coloured specks?

I'm guessing the green blob is due to glare from the moon

Jupiter is the rather bright, slightly reddish dot between the moon and the green blob. Venus is the bright object just above the power lines. Welcome to IIS from another newbie!

I like the colours Stew. Very noice

The green blob is due internal reflections caused by photographing such a bright doohickey. The reflection occurs diametrically opposite the centre of frame from the bright object.

Here's a shot I did a while ago - with the moon rising between trees in a forest, and you can see my green object up to the left. It caused me to look twice, I can tell you! LOL!! :)

Aah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.
