Hello all...

Weather in SA has been unkind to imagers.
Managed a short session 3 nights ago - thwarted by clouds...always amazed at how quickly those guys can appear and take over!

Managed 5x300 second exposures at iso1600 - nowhere near enough exps to overcome the iso1600 noise unfortunately. So, result is a bit noisy.

Image details...
Canon 40D (modded)
Canon 70-200mm f4L lens, 200mm @ f5.6
Hutech IDAS LPS2 Filter
Skywatcher Synscan EQ5 mount
Autoguided with PHD

ICNR + Flats

LMC was pretty low too, so overall a bit rough n' ready with the noise.
No link to high res version as I'm just happy to see the potential of the rig on this object - shows promise I reckon.

All the best
Doug:thumbsup:

Very nice shot Dougie.
I agree, it never ceases to amaze me how these clouds just seem to know that we're out there imaging and decided to have a town meeting overhead. :mad2:

You've done well for 5 shots at ISO 1600 !

As mentioned Doug, with more subs and better weather, there certainly is promise, ;) but I wouldn't be complaining about this effort mate, looking good. keep up the good work mate, and keep em coming.

Leon

the camera does really bring out the lots of colour regions...i would have liked the background to be slightly darker
