Well, you twisted my face (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment_browse.php?a=49916)!

Geoff,
Do you want to see my level of commitment?
I am driving up on Saturday afternoon and will attend the Pony Club. I then will drive back to Canberra on Sunday morning and will be catching a flight back to Sydney that afternoon for a course I'm attending all week!
I will be absolutely stuffed, but, considering how many months it has been since I made an appearance, I'm in. :)

I'm there, and I might just throw some Chrissy decorative stars on the end of my scope. That way I'm sure to see something that resembles a sky in case you can't see it on the night. But it will be clear as Geoff O has spoken.
Now to find some goodies to throw in the esky.

I'm in Sydney.
I'll be leaving here at about 6:15 PM-ish so hope to arrive around 7:30 PM. Pewter Toyota Echo, Manfrotto tripod and 350D with some L-series glass attached. :)
No deep sky tonight, but, some wide field star trails look to be the go.
It's shaping up to look like a good night.
Look forward to seeing the old timers and those that I haven't met, yet.

Unfortunately I couldn't make it last night :(
We had a school fete that went way over time and by the time we got the kids fed and in bed, the storm came.
I saw it cleared a bit around 10:30pm or so, and it was crystal clear this morning :(
At least I've saved my brownie points for going out to photograph the conjunction for the next 2-3 nights.
I hope you guys had a great time, I wish I could've been there.

This morning I am in a cranky mood and I do not want to read tales of absolute dark and pristine skies from those that attended last night...
Wow !
What a night !
Absolute pristine conditions :poke: (after being rained on at least twice).
LOL It cleared very early in the morning and we had magnificent views through Deeno's 10".
All up a great night by all who attended.
Plenty on yummies to go around and as usual great company and laughs.
Will post more later.

Cleared us just like GTB said it would, I had lost faith and put my scope away.
Fortunately Deeno kept his 10" 'er up and working, some great views before dawn
A bit of everything last night rain hail lightening stars rumballs

Well Well,
What an interesting night.
Rain, clear, rain, clear, then fog and more rain then it cleared when I was driving home about 2.30 am.
Great company and food. ( too much food ) I think RB's Pizza was the straw that broke the camels back for me........
My small scope got a squiz at a few sights.
Nice to meet you Mr."H" ( Octane ). Oh and David too.
Thx to all who attended.

30-11-2008, 10:49 AM
Well last night was a mixed bag of Santa's goodies. We just about got everything delivered to us and then some more.
We had lightning, thunder, clear skies, more lightning, rain, scattered cloud, clear skies, fog, more rain and in between all this we had a party.
Great company again for all those that braved a somewhat patient night of cellestial wham bam.
Great to see all of the locals as well as those that travelled.
On the night there was:-
Geoff,Geoff and Geoff, Deeno,RB, Sue,Rod,Bones,Jakob and it was good to meet H and David.
Excellent gathering albeit not much in the viewing department but some good patches in between the tempest.
Cheers

well all i can say is -
if the rest of my xmas is as good as last nite - i am in for a corker
great people enjoying one 'n' others company - what a range of food! - don't think there was many of Sue's rum balls left - i missed out on Geoff's coffee :mad2: - didn't get to kill the hedgehogs i found out my way - maybe they will keep for after xmas if they don't escape
shall we talk about the weather ?
guess so - we had it all - thunder - lightning show was great during the nite with a few meteors thrown in, that four letter word ....RAIN, sure was some of that.
FOG! - did i mention FOG. the heaviest FOG i have ever experienced - had to put a tarp over the Mary Rose to keep the FOG off her ;) -
it rolled in again (the fog that is) about 5am as we were getting ready to go home to spoil the great couple of hours viewing we had after 2am through Deeno's scope
i was tempted - almost tempted - to get my scope out it was that good
special thanks to "H" (and Jakob) for coming so far to say hello again - was great to see you "H" - come back soon
anyway - i was just stoked with the whole nite - not just a boring old observing nite (not that WE have any of those)
thanks people

It's a shame the weather last night wasn't like what it's shaping up for tonight. Thanks all for a good night. I know it was crystal clear again as I left at midnight. So with Sue leaving before me was I the 2nd sacrificial lamb? It was clouded over at home when I got there. H, did you get any more shots after I left? As has been said we had a bit of everything last night. I suppose the only thing we didn't have were zombies coming out of the fog. :scared:. It's strange how unregonisable we are when were all sitting in the Pony Club in the light waiting for the rain to clear. See you all next time.

I haven't been able to make the trek to the Mountain for a few months, but am really sorry I missed this one. Glad you all had fun. Merry X-mess to all, if I don't see you next new Moon, here's to a little less overcast skies than we've been having lately.
Cheers,

P.S. And a happy Smiley conjunction to All tomorrow!

Thanks everyone for the great company on Saturday night. I particularly enjoyed catching up with H - great to see you, thanks for making such a huge effort to be there! Thanks also the GTB for the tarp, and everyone else for your willing hands in keeping the Mary Rose from drowning. I am pleased to report she is now dry and well.
Isn't it amazing what a difference one night can make...last night was incredibly clear, but I was too tired to get out the scope.

it took one hell of an effort to start unpacking the car yesterday

hope the missus doesn't want to use it to-day - might get round to emptying it out this afternoon - maybe

Hi all,
Glad to hear the skies cleared again and you had some good viewing (baa)! A bit of fog on Peats Ridge road going home made driving dodgy for a short way, but I'm surprised it rolled in thick at the Pony Club. Thanks to you all for a great night and I'll happily make rum balls for future meetings if you all like them. Have a wonderful Christmas, safe, relaxing holidays (for those having a break) and I'll see you all next time.:)

Hi all,
Thank you for a fantastic night -- even if it did rain upon us as we were attempting to image and observe. :)
It was great to catch up with the old timers and also to meet people who I hadn't met before. It's always fun putting faces and voices to names. :)
Thank you Deeno for the splendid views of those wonderful objects. Full points for trying to make me stay longer by enticing me with more objects!
