Been back a few days from VicSouth 2008. Left home on Friday arvo, rained the whole way there until about Nhill, just starting to clear when I got there. Only a few scopes setup by optimists, everyone else was inside at lecture then watching movie. About midnight it cleared and got in a couple of hours.
Next day, trip to Mt Arapiles and checking out smoke from bushfires. Got back to Lodge to buys afew things (telrad, binos, eyepiece etc.) then dinner.
Skys were clearish for Perry's chat but was able to find a few objects and add to my list of Messiers. About 2-30am the skys cleared up beautifuilly but was too tired to really take advantage.
All around a good time, learned a lot by asking and checking out others gear. Food was ahem, a bit average:whistle:, but there you go, when looking for dark skies one can't have everything.

Hi Malcolm, :welcome: to IIS.

Thanks for the report. I'd love to get down to VicSouth one day - I imagine the skies there are wonderful.

Glad the weather co-operated (mostly) for you guys.

Sunday night was looking really good. Not a cloud in sight, except for an annoying Moon, so I had a bit of a "nanna nap" until just after 11:00 and came out to find the whole sky had clouded over :mad2:

Have to agree, just got back from Vic/South today and the the weather Gods where no very kind, socially if was fine but other than that it was pretty ordinary.

Got plenty of happy snaps of the people and stuff like that, so I will process them soon and post a little later.;)
