You dont necessarily need a scope to participate in astronomy, but good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Hi Shawn

Good luck with your new adventures in life and I’m sure you’ll enjoy whichever course you decide to steer, just as I’ve enjoyed your posts from the top end, especially how you constructed that amazing observatory of yours.

Best wishes

Dennis

Likewise, I still think there is plenty to contribute, especially to those just starting out, as in reality you are an old timer. Stick around, the urge may return.
Either way, it has been a pleasure.

Thank you all I am deeply touched by your comments, I will try to find time to contribute in any way I can, Hopefully in the near future I will get another scope of a more modest nature, one that I may travel with. It is with deep regret that the 14er is sold, I have had many satisfying and rewarding evenings, with this scope, I'm sure the new owner will also. Anyways, as I say Ill visit, but less frequently, and in the interim avoid the imaging section...:(

Kind Regards

All the best Shawn, I have enjoyed conversing with you over the years and seeing you build that massive observatory (one of the biggest of its kind in Australia owned and built by an amateur), which shows just some of the skills you posses.

Hope to see you face to face one day.

I mean it when I say; "all the best".

Hi Shawn, when I saw the the 14" up for sale I felt very sad for you knowing all the work you put into it and the observatory.

Whatever ventures you move onto to I wish you all the best.

Shawn, it's been a pleasure having you here, make sure you drop in from time to time, if you can't keep a permanent presence. I hope that whatever direction you take that things work out.

I don't see why you you have to say goodbye.
Since starting my own business in January it has restricted my internet time dramatically but I still occasionally pop in when I can.

Well, either way all the best .

Cheers Daniel.

I don't know what to say now Ive made a pratt of myself sulking about the sale of my scope...I'm looking for an EQ6 and a modest refractor as a pacifier, "I need portability" .. any suggestions... I would like to stay a part of the Observing community, and avoid the ranks of the armchair Astronomer, "No offence to those that are" its just not my cup of tea...:(.

Hi Shawn, it's perfectly understandable mate. I'd be upset if I had to part with my 12" let alone something as grand as a 14".

As long as your looking up, even with the naked eye that counts as part of the observing community.

cheers

What happened to your brilliant observatory, Shawn?

You can't resist the call of astronomy - we'd love you sticking around :)

A sudden need for funds Mike, but mainly only 8 nights over one year, if not through other commitments then through clouds or Moon... Portability therefor is an option I had not really considered until now. The Observatory is still here. Not sure what to do about that...

Thankyou

Shawn
