Was testing out the 350D to take to the air race tomorrow and snapped a few quick pics of the Moon near Venus in the West. Must get a better lens!

El naturale and quick edit.

Good capture:thumbsup:

I was looking forward to viewing this myself last night, but Brisbane's weather let me down...again:sadeyes:

I'm hoping it'll be clear Thursday night when Jupiter and the moon pass within 2 degrees of each other.

Nice shots Leinad.

Interesting to see how far the Moon moved in the time between dusk in Brisbane and dusk in WA. This shot (using a 300mm lens) was taken during a break in the clouds from Brisbane, I guess 2 hrs before Leinad's, and Venus is much closer to the Moon.

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice shots everyone. I saw the conjunction from clear skies in western Victoria. This one was taken at 7:43pm from longitude 142degE. Probably around the same clock time (AEST) as Stephen, but around 40 minutes later in astronomical time. Moon has moved on appreciably. An interesting study in the effect of geographical location on the appearance of the conjunction.
