I have a Skywatcher SW708 scope that has worked well as a guidescope. I have updated to the Orion short tube refractor.
Details:
Focal length: 500 mm
Aperture: 70 mm
Weight: Around 750 gm
This is not a quality scope, so don't expect to use it for wide field astrophotography and the like. I can't imagine using it for anything other than guiding or something terrestial like birdwatching. However, with the Orion Autoguider, I have always found suitable stars to guide on without having to move it around, so it works as a guidescope. Have a look at some pics on http://www.asnsw.com/photos/gxsdig.asp
Asking $50 plus postage. You will also need a star diagonal or extension tube to get focus. I can supply a diagonal for $25, but I imagine most people have a spare tucked away somewhere.
