Did some cruizing in Astronomy 2005 and in Starry Nights last night - to much smoke to even bother going outside.
On the 1st and 2nd September Jupiter and Venus will be really close.
On the 6th Venus, the Moon, Jupiter and Spica will be really close.
Worth keeping and eye out for them.
Cheers

Still clouds everywhere. Can someone else get some shots. The animated gif is a great idea :) I'll have a go at it, just need the shots.

Well, the clouds finally cleared here so I could have a go at the major conjunction night last night was a disaster.
Pity about the animated gif, it was a good idea - maybe next time :)

having a good play with neat image,
heres a amended copy
Hey Rob,
Nice images, and I was going to suggest the same as davo. The second one would benefit from NEAT image, he beat me to it.

NEAT really did the job. Where do you get it from?
I am really pleased with these images. They are single frames taken with an Olympus mu 3.2 megapixel on a tripod. To be able to get the disks of the planets resolved is a real buzz.

rob, i saw that mike had used it and then searched google. i have downloaded demo version and put it here http://www.precons.com/iis/downloads/
mike will probably post it in resources i would think.
i will probably go full version some time, but i am so impressed with this demo version. it is pretty automatic, load image, ask it to auto filter, preview is and process. sometime it can't find a consistant noisy area, but you then can choose a wide range of noise removal filters and off you go!.
it really is a must have!
I used the demo version for a while then bought the full version when I got 300D.
Best thing I did.
With the full version you can use it on 16 bit images.
I work on the image in 16 bit mode then run NEAT right at the end.
:)
