Hanging around impatiently for the pristine non thunderstorming skies of Lostock   to get another image....thought I'd revisit an old favourite in the meantime...:screwy:.

I played with it a bit (probably did little in the end?) and thought some of you might like to have a look at the full size full resolution version. There is so much in this nebula and a few minutes spent scrolling around examining it might turn up some new swirls, knotts or asterisms that you hadn't noticed before?

Have fun

Warning 14.5 meg image:

Mike,

That is astounding -- such tight focus!

I really like the way the colours have a mixture of the blue and pink. Reminds me of what one would obtain (albeit at much less resolution) using an unmodified DSLR.

Gorgeous work, as always.

Humayun

Your such a try hard Mike ;).

I was going to ***** about the need for such a large file, but bugger me, it was worth it, the detail is extraudinary, IMO one of the best pics youve done, the core is exceptional indeed, of a quality similar to a much longer FL.

Dont get a big head over this, you probably just fluked it :D.

Sadly I am thinking you may be right

Dial-up..? do people still have that? :P

Well that probably says it all Hagi ? Thanks

Thanks Hum-V, glad you enjoyed the big file, not always able to do it but this image could hold under even greater enlargement probably. Every image of Eta is different, I like the true RGB but many like the unusualness of narrow band imaging too so I guess what makes a colour balance/choice look good can vary..?

Awww shucks, you "do" love me after all :love2:

Thanks Marc, I was pretty surprised at the resolution really as I took this earlier in the year when Eta was only really rising. I've posted this before but to get a better idea of the resolution, here is a close up on the fickle finger feature, good seeing would have been even better and remember this was at only 1140mm FL too.

Thanks a lot Jen!

Wot a pic Mike. Your efforts inspire me to the point that I think I can safely attribute my lust for a decent damn image mainly to your work. Thanks for the future hole in my pocket and time away from the wife while I contemplate my navel wondering how you do it.

 Sorry but I'm glad you like the imag.

See you in a few hours..? When we can contemplate the underside of clouds  and the bottom of wine and beer bottles :D

One of the main things I like about your work is the way you can stay on one object for days or even weeks. It must get a bit boring but the results are obviously worth it.

Ripper image, Mike.
I will now try to find the appropriate emoticon... :jawdrop::eyepop::bowdown:
Nup, nothing seems adequate. I am struck dumb with amazement.
I hate that.

Brian.

I presume its a very nice image as always Mike; Its not dial-up that I have got, but its the same speed via satellite dish, and if it gets too windy then Australia Post is faster.

Exceptional image again Mike .... glad you posted it now as I will be running on GPRS for probably a few months when I move at the end of November ... it would take forever to download a file of this size so hopefully OPTUS forecast of wireless broadband coverage is accurate.

Had to download this at work on broadband, definitely worth the wait to see it.

A very fine detailed image, great work Mike.

Wonderfull image Mike. The detail... but still those pastel colours and the real sense of nebulousity in space... and I had time to go and make a steak sandwich while it was downloading on cable broadband. Where are you Kevin O Seven when we need you.

Mike I quickly glanced at this thread just before leaving for Lostock.
I'm just dumbfounded at the detail.
Swim?
I nearly drowned !!!

Ripper shot.

Thaks for the nice comments guys, I'm glad you enjoyed the view/swim

For those on slower connections here is a smaller 4meg version:

http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/94204109/original

and to illustrate the resolution of the image have a look at a close up of the fickle finger, lot to be said for good optics and this was taken at rather low altitude and in only average seeing too!

Cheers again

Mike
