I thought it was image noise (made me happy :P) then I realised it was the extensive outer halo resolved into stars! :eyepop::eyepop::eyepop::eyepop:

That's quite amazing! I think this picture will lift any doubt about a thread that started 6 months ago or so with the same picture processed in registax showing a lot of details in the center portion of the disk. It actually looks like there's not much going in the center in terms of dust lanes. Thanks for sharing :thumbsup:

It will be interesting to see what the James Webb scope comes up with .... HST will be a hard act to follow.

Ah...yesssss..

Looked long and hard at that one before I submitted my M104 (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery20.html) at CWAS

Of course it pales into insignificance with that HST shot, but also served as a great inspiration to milk every photon out of my system.

That is wonderful -- there is plenty of fine detail to be seen and there's a nice warm hue/tone throughout the bulge. Very pleasing.

Talk about Lost in space.. This is just awesome, I dont think i have seen any other image which shows the bright stars in the main arms of the galaxy.
