Sorry, didn't know where else to post this. Sketched this last year really roughly at the reflector & finally decided to finish it up today.

Nice sketch John. Looks just like my first and only image of it. Brings back memories. Might have to try it again in a couple of months. Great stuff.

I like the detail you brought out in the sketch. Seems like you and Ken have this sketching business all drawn up! It is a fantastic effort, wished I could draw!

Heres another one. This time I allowed it to look somewhat "coarser" no blending, a slightly "out of focus" look....thru binos the other night. :D

Of course  , I had the name in my head, just couldnt match it up with anything. I fact I had a look at the Tarantula myself, early this morning.
It is one of those objects that needs to be high above the horizion to make out it's wispy structure. (Bring on the 16" Dob ! :prey: )

Ken...How about applying your considerable talent to the tarantula mate...when you get time?? I'd love to see what you can come up with on this one! Your style is more precise & 'smoother' than mine..

Hey, that's excellent John! The Tarantulas wispy formation look Photographic
I will give it a try. Do you want a sketch from a pic or through the EP?
It will be a while before I can do one through the EP the way the weather is and I will have to wait till about 3am for a good view if it does clear up.

Thanxx Kenny.:) Yeah, considering the crappy weather, from a piccy or magazine would be just fine! Thanks for your comments. I'm sure you can master this a lot better than what I can! (30 doradus) :D My moon sketch was just a bit of fun & it looks crap, but not to worry!

Kenny? YUK!!!!
Johnnie, Your Moon sketch ain't crappy as we can tell what is!
If we all recognise it as the Moon, you've done well.
I'll give Tarantula (30 Doradus) a go when I get home from Footy training tonight. I'll find a pic of it somewhere.

OK, feeling a bit better today (migraines are gone for a while) and no Rugby League for the kids this weekend so I had a go at sketching Tarantula.
I am not really happy with the outcome but maybe if I was feeling 100% I would play around with it a bit more.
Also they are not very big due to the 150mb limit!
Pic 1: the original sketch.
Pic 2: Inverted.
Pic 3: Red added for effect.

As I predicted.....You did great sir! way better than my miserable effort!! :ashamed:
Mind if I take em' in to my piccy editor to see if I can bring em' out any better??
BTW Re: migraines...I've been getting them for years...turns out chocolate was the culprit. Gave it up, haven't had a migraine since!:D

Because I played with the levels too much in the Red one I lost the stars, so I have put some back in

Thanks John.
You may certainly have a play with it. I will send you the original if you give me your email address.
Chocky doesn't cause mine, usually stress does. 48 years of them!! :scared2:

I dunno if I've made it any better or not..Made it slightly bigger/changed to jpg/made the back-ground darker....

Yeah, I tried that too and lost all the outer 'whispy' nebula clouds.

Ken, you are a master of the art of sketching/illustration - but then i guess you must have a VERY steady hand and eye when you are doing permanent tatt's on great big burly bikers arm's ect heheh :)

Lol!
Kearn, I gave up Tattooing years ago. I just love Art! But yes, back then a steady hand was mandatory :D
Big burly Bikers were never a problem as I was one of them too (well, short burly Biker), it was the drunken yobbo's that caused more trouble.
I would love to spend more time on Space-Art and EP illustrating and I can't afford a good camera, tracking, laptop etc, so sketching is ideal for me.
