Folks,
Appears there's always room for more NGC253's!

Here's my effort...

6 x 5 minutes at 1600ISO using Canon 350D with an Orion broadband filter at prime focus with a Saxon ED80 autoguided with a DSI and piggybacked on my LX200GPS.

Stacked with DSS and processed in CS3.

Sorry I'm mystified.

Another galaxy lost in a very wide field.

Why did you choose the ED80 over your LX200???

Galaxies (apart from the Milky Way) need focal length........

Thanks Peter,
I've used the LX200 many times for imaging but due to the f/10 focal length, I was getting a lot of star bloat, I started using an f/6.3 focal reducer but got bad vignetting.

So I settled for the wide field ED80, I can stack and crop for the same nice close image, the LX200 puts the image in the field of view each time so I'm doublee happy.

I just love the wide field shots.

Here is the same cropped to suit.

l personally love to see some objects hanging out in space, a feel of vastness and space.

A nice result Paul.

I agree with Peter though, you shouldn't have used your LX200. All you had to do is take flats to get rid of the vignetting.

A good image none the less.

Well done.

Thanks Matty,
I will try out taking images with the LX200 at some time I suppose and as you say take the flats to fix the vignetting.
We will how it goes.

Cheers
Paul

Good job on this. The cropped version has some good detail in it

Me too Marc, I'm a big fan as well, it all comes down to taste, I will however swap things around and image through the LX200 as see how that turns out.

I reckon Dan, there is detail, if you take a fair few images and stack you tend to get that clarity.

Thanks all for your opinions.
