nothing flash
just got around to processing it.
I used some exposures at ISO 200 mixed in with others...
I think next time I'll stick to ISO 800.

Nice image Frank. You seem to be suffering the same center burnout problem I have been having with this cluster. The depth of the cluster seems to make it dificult to resolve individual stars right into the core without them breaking down to an almost scribble pattern and the core over saturated. I don't know how to resolve this problem. If you work it out let me know. Perhaps an object which should be imaged only when the seeing is at it's very best.
Very nice just the same.

Thanks Doug,
I think next time i'll use all ISO 800 but progressive sessions of 15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 1.5 and 2min
stack each set sepoerately and layer them in PS using masks,
that should improve it.
Oh well... it'll be a while before the next imaging session though

Frank,
You've done very well. Taming a C14 (albeit at 2400mm) with a G-11 is no small task. Guiding is dead nuts on.
The task for you now is to obtain better colour saturation and dynamic range (eg via layering).....time to get into Photoshop I suspect ;)
Cheers

Thanks Peter
much appreciated indeed
Will do
And I'll call for an SBIG someday when the World Economy (and my Minister of Finance) allows
:]

I agree with Peter. Nice tight tracking and I think your processing plan will help to resolve the core. Good luck and good seeing!

A very nice version of the "queen of the globulars" Frank.
As mentioned the tracking is spot on.
Cheers
It's turned out nicely Frank, how long was each sub?
As you say, stick to ISO 800 and vary the exposures then layer them.

Nice for only half a hour Frank! The C14 would pull a lot if stars in quickly!
Seeing was nice last night before the moon came up and this was my target! Yes 800 iso is a good setting for my 20D ex on cold nights.
cheers Gary

Thansk Ric, Gary and Andrew,
Andrew, I had done subs at ISO 200 of 30 sec, 1 min 1.5, 2 min etc until i get a bit anxious to image something else and so moved up to ISO 400 up to 7 minutes and even an ISO 80 7 minutes....
in the end I process and reprocessed so many times i got fed up and lost track on the last one of which subs I'd used except the total added time....very embarrassing...
but as I said elsewhere, i post the good the bad and the ugly ...this one is in the category between ugly and bad for a variety of reasons i think...i know I can improve on it.

Nice image Frank. Nice round stars and some nice colour showing.
Well done. :)
