I have calculated the current price including shipping from the states, I think $300 AUD, is a fair price.

Hey Peter,
Sounds like your onto a great deal there. Thank you for posting your bid
To bring you up to speed, I've had several direct inquiries including three offers the best being so far is AUD$335.00 I cant lands these in Australia new under AUD$430.00 including shipping. These are pretty close to being in new condition they were brought in Jan 2005 and used mainly up until May 2005 when I started my Pentax XW collection. So they haven't had a great deal of use. I'm still thinking of keeping them as I had the intention of giving them to my son, and later will probably have to get him something decent to use for himself. So I'm only going to sell them if it is really worth it. I'm not asking for the equivilent new price. But to let the cat out of the bag I wont be excepting anything less than AUD$340.00. Which I think is still a bargin.

Would you care to tell us where you can land them for that much? :D I only know of Frontier Optics, and they want $125 a pop + postage.
Pity you won't split the four; I'd be willing to pay $200 for two. Maybe if they're still for sale in a few weeks I can place a bid on the whole set... Right now I need $$ to replace the binos I lost during out-of-town observing over the weekend. :( (Edit: Just noticed the self-destruct notice at the top  so I guess these particular EPs are not for me.)

I know how much Rob loves his Pentaxes - I'd be willing to bet his "future project" has an XW in the title somewhere :P
Its OK bro - I'm hooked on 'em too. Gonna pick up a 20mm and 7mm sometime this fall with a 5mm somewhere in the near future!
Now if I could find someone with a 30mm near me, so that I could try before I buy...:help:

Steve,

US$79.95 x 4 = US$319.80 x AUD$1.24 (to the US$1.00) = 396.552
Generally you pay US$15-20.00 so expect that to turn into another AUD$30.00
Also you might find it hard buying from allot of online retailers in the US or Canada as they are mostly under licence not to mail order overseas. They dont tend to like a retailer under cutting their overseas distributers.
For me I buy local for two main reasons...
1) If there is ever a problem with an item, it can/could be a real problem sorting out an overseas warrenty. Which I have heard on occassions can take months.
2) It supports the local retailers and helps build this industry locally. Besides Daniel at Frontier Optics is great to deal with and more than happy help out anyway he can.
Jim  X:shrug:W  X:shrug:W  after trying a friends 31mm t5 which I was intending to buy one day, the field curverture did my head in. So it'll be a 30mm XW for sure and maybe the 40mm later. but I hear the 40mm is abit like the 31mm t5. Not going for the 20mm XW only because it is in 1.25" format. So the 20mm t5 is going in it's place.

Thanks for the info Rob. AU$ is a bit weaker these days, so it's probably more like $460 for the total. And then there is also customs, so there may be another $40 for GST...
