Geoff,

I'd love to come, but, I'm stuck down here for three more weekends due to work.

I'll probably start re-attending Pony Club meetings in November. We can hang out until well after everyone has left, except Andrew (Rocket Boy), yourself and yours truly are left behind. Maybe, by then, the clouds would have cleared; the seeing brilliant; the sky still; we can remark how the others who left were suckers for not weathering the clouds; and, my polar alignment ready? :P

Regards,
Humayun

would be great if you could visit again "H"

look forward to it
sure "RB" would love to see you too
we do like the "stayers" to keep us company as you know

but we do need the "sacrificial lamb" occasionally to get rid of the clouds

I'm in.
By then my workload would have eased a little.
Looking forward to seeing you again H, the best polar alignment doesn't happen till after midnight anyway, by then we would have sacrificed a few Cubans.
Geoff the owl hasn't changed a bit BTW.

17-10-2008, 01:31 PM
BUT Mike !

you need to make sure your gear is all working before lostock

and you need to take that new trailer for a run, just to be sure the trip back from lostock the other week didn't cause any problems

besides - h0ughy might be coming :party2:

and well! - if he can get a leave pass - i mean to say! :)

20-10-2008, 04:35 PM
Like water off a Ducks (chooks) back. :P

RB
20-10-2008, 04:51 PM
LOL Geoff, John's on holidays, as if I'd put him to work on the farm !!!

No....I've got better things planned, I need an observatory built.

GTB_an_Owl
20-10-2008, 07:59 PM
then you will have to put him up for more than 1 or 2 days then RB

John - bring your favourite hammer and charge up the batteries on your portable drill

now about the water off a duck's back - i was actually watching one of our visiting ducks the other day standing out in the rain in the backyard -
stood on one leg ( i thought it would have been squatting down to the ground) and was watching the water bead up, and run down it's back

so it is true - water does roll of a duck's back

I will see how the weather is before asking permission from the Minister for Public Relations:whistle:.

If I aint careful, I may get into hot water.....again....

I would like to try out my new little " grab and go scope " though....;)

Rick Petrie
20-10-2008, 09:25 PM
Never mind permission from the Minister for Public Relations Geoff.
You will need permission from all and sundry to set up in "Dob Alley"now.
:lol::lol::lol::lol:
You will only need practice in seeing things the right way up.

Inmykombi
22-10-2008, 08:23 PM
Now that I have regressed to a Grab and Go Newtonian, I will feel very comfortable in " Dob Alley ":P

But it'll take me a while to get used to chasing the images across the sky as I did before as they move through the field of view.

Dont worry though, you can still have the whirring noise from the Meade to calm your nerves at the Pony Club..

Deeno
23-10-2008, 05:07 AM
So thats what that noise was.....

Could have sworn it was a A380 comming in to land:eyepop:

I so want to attend again. I will be at work all through Saturday, however.

I can't remember the last time I was up. Probably the Christmas get-together of 2007?

Does Gaz still attend?

I miss you guys.

26-10-2008, 10:24 AM
Excellent warm-up to Lostock.
Plenty of clear stuff up there and the usual good yarns, yummies(thanks GTB for rocky road).
Hope those images come out OK RB.

Rodstar
26-10-2008, 11:26 AM
Glad to hear you guys had a good night.

I am surprised you say it was so clear. I set up in the backyard in anticipation of doing a few hours, but by 10pm, I was so frustrated by the wispy cloud cover which dimmed most parts of the sky that I called it a night. The seeing was OK, just crappy transparency, at least from Point Clare!

Deeno
26-10-2008, 12:18 PM
Perseverance certainly pays off.

General consensus was that conditions would deteriorate sometime after midnight. Instead, as the temperature dropped the seeing just got better as the night made its way into the wee hours of pre-dawn.

So, the original plan of a early wind up ended up watching the sun rise with RB and the Wise (Old) Owl!:screwy:

Let’s keep the digits crossed for Lostock!!

Cheers

why do i get the feeling, "I", am supposed to answer this ?

but - yes - there will be "Weather"
what type i don't know - but there will be weather

TRUST ME!

i am not going because i believe it will be cloudy or raining

i am going because it will be a great turnout - and bloody fantastic if we get clear, cloudless nites :sunny:

Where's your pics from Saturday night, Deeno? :)

Deeno
27-10-2008, 07:26 AM
I was more than happy to observe and learn from the master....(also had a nasty case of heat rash from chasing a cricket ball all over the park all day and wanted to limit moving around to much!!!)

GTB_an_Owl
27-10-2008, 10:05 AM
you better ask RB about the pics Mike

LOL, no I didn't just recover from the all-nighter on Sat night !
I've been off-line with some personal issues, but wow, what a great night we had.
I enjoyed the company of Rick, Deeno, Geoff owl and Geoff 'combie' and I had setup for some widefield shots.
Unfortunately being the socialite that I am, I wasn't paying attention to the dew and a lot of the shots were ruined.
I did get a some keepers though and I'll post the result later.

Thanks for the company guys.
