Astronomical Society of Tasmania Viewing Night on the 25th October

A viewing night, sponsored by the Astronomical Society of Tasmania, has been organised for Saturday the 25th October.

It will be held in the grounds near The Stables at the National Trust Property "Clarendon" off the Nile road about 10 kilometres past Evandale.

The event will be open to the public from midafternoon with some solar observations followed by dark sky observations in the evening.

There will be plenty of different telescopes to look at and through and lots of eager amateur astronomers to talk to.

The AST has visited Clarendon before and considers it is one of the best easily accessible dark sky sites in the northern end of the state.

Members of the Society will travel from all parts of Tasmania for the gathering.

Daytime admission is through Clarendon House itself, where a free ticket for the telescope area will be given.

A fantastic opportunity for rare astronomy viewing!:)

Hi all,

We had about 30 people from all over the state (Tasmania) attend our annual AST viewing night inspite of bad weather. It was a great chance to catch up with our southern members.
