after a long, long search for a new imaging scope l finally got a Megrez 90.
l have looked at, and through a number of scopes in the last month and taking all factors into account such as cost (value for money) , glass type and of course colour correction this scope IMO comes out on top. beautifully finished and with all the features you expect from a good refractor so along with the P-Flat III this should meet my needs for a while to come.

Nice. And they've come down in price a lot since I bought mine last year!
Cheers

Hope the colour correction is better than that of the WO Megrez 88.
Nearly bought one of these, but was lucky enough to have chance of trying one before making a decision.
Although, in focus, the colour correction was ok visually (red fringing inside or outside of focus), the stars in my SXVF-H9C images, had beautiful red fringes aound them. :(.
Needless to say, I didn't buy one!!.
I guess it was to be expected from a doublet, employing a fast f/5.6 focal ratio.
I decided to buy the Meade 5000 Triplet APO instead, and that's a 'clean as a whistle'.
Hopefully, as the Megrez 90 is a longer focal with a slower f ratio, you should be ok.

My M90 didn't respond well to the P-flat III, the P-flat II gave a much flatter field..
I found the color correction to be spot on...
Congrats on your new scope mate... they are beauties.

Im a great fan of the M90 FD, a great grab n go scope. But it does double duty as a guidescope or wide field imager on the LX200. To top it all it must be amongst the best looking scopes out there. The white with gold and shiny black focuser. ................ENJOY.............. ....:P

There's a new version coming apparently:
"New version M90-L features new design strong and smooth LinearPower 8:1 2.5" microfocuser...A$1399 (Nov.).
L bracket removed due to new microfocuser fitted.
Aluminium case not included."

Make of that what you will, I think it's a good looking scope as it is - had a go with one visually and it was very nice to look through too - Mike

not much chance of the price staying anywhere near $1399 by arrival in Nov.

I agree, nice looking setup Mick. :)
Did you get the M90 instead of the FLT-98?

Hi guysI currently have an 8inch newtonian and have been considering a reasonable quality refractor for some time. I on the verge of getting a Megrez90. I only have one (or two) concerns left.Colour correction - I see that I need a field flattener for the 90. I have been advised the P-flatIII is what I need, but others seem to be suggesting the P-flatII. Then I read about the WOx.8 flattener/reducer. Am I right to assume that either would do? And as Dave has suggested, does the slower f-ratio overcome the problems he experienced with the 88?ThanksDarrell

The color correction of the M90 is very good (my one at least).. You will want a reducer/flattener for photography...
The P flat III works with the M90, I found the Flat II to be flatter, but this was me being VERY picky... the WO 0.8x reducer flattener is just another name for the aforementioned flatteners. Either of these will do.
With the reducer, the Megrez 90 becomes F/5.56, which is rather fast... gives a nice wide field of view...
The focuser on the newer ones (L version) is the 2.5" linear power focuser. Its a fair bit nicer than the previous versions, and the version seen on my Megrez 102..
I doubt you'd be unhappy with the M90, its a very capable scope, gives nice visual views, and is a slick astro imaging scope...
