The Senate will be holding Senate Estimates Committee meetings in this current session starting 13 October. Included will be funding for the ABC.
If anyone is upset about the ABC's failure to listen and act on your concerns over the decision to axe StarStuff, this will be your last best chance to tell your elected members and senators about your concerns, or to remind them in case they have forgotten.
The StarStuff podcast is not paid for by the ABC, but is done by Stuart Gary in his own time after work. And not everyone has access to computers or the internet.
NewsRadio Manager Helen Thomas won’t even let him use NewsRadio studio or office facilities to do it, even though they are empty and unused.
The funding that previously went to broadcast StarStuff is now going to increase NewsRadio's sports coverage including a dramatically expanded horse racing service. Interestingly Thomas has just published her own book on horse racing and punting.
It's our taxpayers dollars that she's spending and at the same time Newsradios ratings are about the worst they have ever been.
The ABC's management doesnt seem to care, if you do PLEASE tell the politicians to stop this and put star stuff back on the air where it belongs.
cheer's

Starstuff,
Is it just great we have some of the best night skies in the world but we don't have a national astronomy show on the radio or T.V but we do have a horse racing program on a national scale and just about every seconded radio station has some form of sport on it .What has happen to the ABC has it gone pottery .At least we in the Hunter have a local radio station 2NUFM 103.7 do their but for astronomy my the way of Col Mayberry and Colin McKay who give a bit of a talk each morning ,some time they wonder of the track talk about other things not related with astronomy but at least it better that nothing
