Hi all

Went to visit my parents house at Bellingen over the long weekend. I took some photos of their house while I was there - my plan is to get some printed up and framed nicely to give as a xmas present.

The first one is a pano, the original is over 6000px wide. The others are night shots - the first is a HDR and has the real sky, and then a sky taken later composited on on the second shot. The 3rd and 4th are as is - just stacked using startrails.de.

Unfortunately the star trails didn't work as I hoped. I had to stick to short exposures due to the lights being on, and I was having trouble with the camera (I think the battery was going flat) so that there was too much of a delay between shots resulting in the ugly gaps :(

Anyway still would like your thoughts about which of the night shots you prefer most.

oh btw my Dad built that house with his bare hands! I wish I had half the DIY skill he has :)
It's such a lovely place.

Cool house. Looks like one of those fancy eco resorts. I think no.5 is a nice photo.

Isn't Bellingen where the big bat colony is? They could do some serious damage to your equipment if they 'bombed' you!

That 3rd image is a ripper.

You will be looking at that image up on the wall for years to come.

Looks like a beautiful spot Mike, #3 is my favourite.

DIY kills aren't that hard to acquire, it's mostly a matter of getting in and having a go and jmost of all trying to do the best you can. Decent tools help as well.

DIY kills, as in with bare hands. As he said, tools help :)



I like the last photo actually. Awesome simple shadow-work on the grass and highly detailed shadows on the plants to the right and left.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I like #3 too but wished there wasn't the gaps in the star trails.

I think my parents will love it anyway.

Love the panoramic shot, but, my vote goes with number three, too.
