We found this fossil on our trip around Qld. We had pulled up on the side of the road to have a cuppa and we did a little exploring while we were there. Found this fossil in about 10 mins and about 100m off the road. Its called an Ammonite about 35-50 million years old.

Hey, nice find Adrian! I've been interested in fossils for a few years now, and have a small collection. Where in Qld did you find this one?
Cheers,
Stephen

that is brilliant
I 'd love to find a fossil myself-where in NSW does someone who is not experienced go hunting for 'em?
Hi Adrian, that is a wonderful speciman, don't often see them with the extension preserved. Usually only the curled tail is all that survives.
Cheers
Wow :eyepop:Adrian, amazing!

Now that's a stroke of luck, I've always got my eye out for stuff like this. This is an excellent specimen too:thumbsup:

cool find :)
went on a dig near kangaroo valley once and found a stack on plants (reeds mainly).
Good find, mate. I have a number of fossils from one of the gravel pits near Richmond; mainly fish bones and belemnites including fish teeth.
