I took the opportunity to get a few photos and headed down to the Airshow at RAAF Base Amberley yesterday, I am now looking like a lobster after 6hrs in the sun, but I think it was well worth it.. Fantastic action packed day, although I was ready to start destroying the PA system after a couple of hours of elevator music...
Plenty of photos... Heres the best of the bunch...

Great series of shots Alex - I love the ones of the Pitts you got ... I was busy on a toilet run with my 8 year old so I missed most of that and when I did get back I found myself behind some clowns with umbrellas that "had" to be held in my eyeline to the action :( .
The weird bit was when they did the low and fast pass with the F111 and it was so silent as they went pass and a second or so later you were hit with the rib cage rattling noise.

Thanks Andrew, Sure was strange... Thats a good real world observation of the physics of sound waves for you...

Yeah I'm a little sunburned myself. It was a little sad seeing people using the exhibited planes' wings' as shade instead of actually looking at them.
A 55 minute drive became a 3 hour one thanks to the traffic on Saturday morning ... but it was worth it. The F18s rocked :)
Anyway I learned my lesson and left early to avoid the traffic on the way back.

Hi Alex
An excellent portfolio of the action and excitement of the air show; great composition and subject interest!
Top stuff from a top gun!

Nice shots Alex,
How was the traffic coming home or did you leave early.

I left just as the 4 F/A-18's took off.. The F/A-18 shot I posted was taken from the car park while searching for my car....

Yep that was exactly the moment I left too ... I kept looking over my shoulder as I was getting close to my car to see if they would return but they didn't :/ They were by far the loudest planes I heard the entire day ... even a thousand feet or two away they were still as loud as the moment they took off.
Nice photos by the way!
