Changing the Clocks

Hi all, just been changing the clocks over for daylight savings time.

What a list of things to change.:eyepop:

Wall clocks x 2
Stereo, radio, DVD and the TV
Weather station
Telephone and mobiles
Computers
Fridge and Microwave
Car and Motorbike
Pedometers

I'm sure I've missed something but I'll find that later.:lol:

It seems to me that we have an underlying obsession with putting clocks in everything. Do we really need a clock looking back at us wherever we turn our heads?

I'm not complaining but it just seems to have ended up that way.

You need to change your computer clock?? Mine did it automagically (Ubuntu Linux). Many other items, like microwaves and VCRs simply never have the time set right - I can't be bothered.

I hope not :lol:, it seems that anything you buy these days has a clock attached to it. I usually just carry my pocket watch with hands so I can find north when the batteries go flat on the mobile.:rofl:



The computer clock is programmed to change at the end of the month so I had to do it manually. I'd better disable it so I'm not 2 hours ahead on the last Sunday.:lol:

Tony I'd have trouble moving back the clock an hour and 10 years so its probably best I stay where i am :) :)

And the clock in my car thats been on the wrong time for most of the year is right again .. The universe is once

The Koel around here starts at 4am. I guess he figures his voice carries further at that quiet time. He also calls all day ... he certainly is keen ;).

I just change the one in the car, it's the one I need to look at if I need to
be somewhere at a particular time. So you never know until you get into
the car whether it's :eyepop: or :)

Why not just get up an hour earlier and start work an hour earlier???:shrug:

In England, during WWII, they used double daylight saving, which was a great saving of fuel for lighting. It is only an excuse now for the people to have a supposed extra hour of leisure light.
And wot abaht the curtains fading....

FWIW modern daylight saving was introduced to save power in Tasmania in the 60's I suspect that role will become more important in the future.

As for the Queenslanders, you can have your 6:30pm darkness, while you're stumbling around in that sweltering heat and 90% humidity I'll be out mowing the lawn, taking a twilight stroll or enjoying a barbecue. :P

Forget that stumbling around stuff Phil, we'll be lounging around in the pool, having a cold one mate! Would welcome your company up here any summer, I'm sure we can even find you some liquid refreshment (I've got a liquor store less than 50 metres from my front door, they even carry Cascade)
