Fortunately the rain has cleared away and its a beautiful but crisp night in Perth tonight.
Spent the last three hours trying to get my focus right and some decent shots of M8 and NGC253 however I don't think my unmodified Pentax will do them justice.
So I would anticipate some nice images posted by the West in the next few days.

Great to hear the weather is playing the game. I got out at 10:30pm after
a nap first. A bit of jetstream earlier and some cloud to the west that I
thought was going to ruin my night. But it's cleared off south and the sat
image is telling the jet stream has too : ) time to open the port and
settle in til dawn : )

Cloud, cloud, rain and cloud here. I'll be interested to hear how the Antares graze went in SA and Broken Hill. I'll also look out for the photos Trevor.

It was wet and cloudy when I arrived here in Perth, last Friday, but the last few nights have been clear. Albeit the Moon is 'washing out' the sky a bit.
Still, I've five weeks until I return to UK, so plenty of time for the Moon clear off out of the way. :)

:)
oh yeah, it's only a matter of time before the Department of S%&heads and Embers begin torching the forests here and polluting the skies like they did last year.............. :mad2:
Both Friday and Sat nights are forcast to be perfect here, but ofcourse theres that moon :mad2: Typical.
I think I'll have to settle for my usual Friday night ritual of KFC, wine and those Gordon Ramsey Hells Kitchen shows instead :D

There's been burn off smoke blowing around Perth over the last week too ... probably some of it from your way !
I'm against this bull of burning the bush to prevent the bush burning .... :screwy:
This comment is probably going to stir up an ants nest now about the pros and cons of burning off .... so at least I've had my say first .... so no more remarks from me !
It's a retarded logic isn't it?

Better a controlled fire than a wild one. And yes, I used to live in the SW of WA. :) so not talking from inexperience.

I just wonder how many clear nights these idiots will ruin this year...
And sometimes, their arson campaign goes terribly wrong, like at Wilsons Prom in April 2005. Ofcourse, they decided it would be a good idea to light the forest on a 30C day with gusting winds. Real smart.

I'll be out tonight setting up an ed80 ontop of the big meade, the night should be excellent apart from a moon and a streetlight thats just been put up over the road......an air rifle will take care of the streetlight but I may have to live with the moon.:D
:jump:
woohoo clear here all week too and i have been hanging out for the weekend to pull an all niter
