Hi all,
I took a day off today (last Friday of school holidays) and took the family to Mt Tamborine in the Gold Coast hinterland. There were several open gardens, which gave me the chance to take a few shots using my K100D and 70-300mm telephoto/macro lens. Here's a selection of the better ones. Hope you like them.
Cheers,
Stephen

A nice bunch Stephen
I'm currently exploring the world of Macro, the results are slowly getting better
Did you use a tripod and/or a flash for most of these or do you have a naturally steady hand
I like the dragon fly in particular,
Bryan

Stephen,
Lovely shots.
I agree with Bryan, the dragonfly shot is superb. I didn't know they were such pretty insects.
Cheers.

Thanks for the comments everyone!
I've just looked up the "dragonfly" and it turns out it's actually a damselfly (possibly Ischnura heterosticta or a similar species?). According to "Wildlife of Greater Brisbane", dragonflies rest with their wings outstretched whereas damselflies do not. So there you go...
Bryan, the K100D has shake reduction, which enables me to shoot without tripod or flash when the light is good. For insects etc (and flowers in windy conditions as was the case yesterday) I find it too hard to set the tripod in time.
Cheers,
Stephen
