Half SMC, With possible Astriod

Hi guys to cut a long story short, here is half the SMC, :rolleyes: yea I know, half you may well ask, but trust me this is the result of not listening and being to cocky, :whistle: but we wont go there either. :lol:

Anyway after doing 15 exposures at 7 minutes each, with ICNR on, I stood next to my scope for 3.5 hours and figured it was on the target, but it was not, so now we have a half SMC, and friends.:lol:

The exposures were 15 @ 7 Mins. @ 400 ISO, through the Tak and Modded 5D, auto guided, and processed in Image Plus and PS2.

This is a un-cropped widefield.

PS, it was pointed out from Lester, that there might be an Astriod captured in my half SMC Image, what do others think, it is in the bottom left hand corner of the main image, the small imag is a very heavy crop of the area.

That's pretty good Leon. I bet the other half is as stunning ;) as this one.
I know how you feel. I had once 20x10min on the tarentula when I checked the raws I was only 3 degrees out "next door" :whistle:.

well i agree that you will just have to do the other half.... but it begs the question, just what did you do for 3 1/2 hours ?????? (being a little cheeky , but i would have thought you would have just snuk a peek at least once)

never mind it could turn out to be a much better image with twice the detail

Clive to sum up your question, what do I do when the scope is imaging, well to be truthful, not much.

Once it is focused and off and running it will hum along very nicely all by it's self.

the camera just clicks away for the lenght of time that i want, the truth is I could probably go to bed and get up when it has done it's job.

So Clive, believing all is well, and pointed at the right place, I just leave it and usually look at the stars, have a wine or two, listen to some music, or just generally stuff about under the clear night sky.

Ah...a glass of red or two oft gets me through the night as well. Dew usually gets me between visits to the scope. Lovely image. Looking forward to the mosaic.

in summer i used to sit out and relax, i had to as i didnt have a means of autotiming as i do now.... too cold in winter for me but come summer again, and id like a big set of binos..... perhaps i will do some visual stuff.

Hi Leon,

Here is a crop of the bottom left corner of your image, and what could be an asteroid. I just brightened it a bit to highlight the faint streak.
