managed to quickly set up the scope with "manual" eyeball alignment to the south and quickly snap off a few shots with no guiding through the ed127. Low and high cloud were coming from the south and w and quickly reclaimed the sky. shots were taken with the standard 400D and manually focusing (didn't have time to set up the focus software and lappy. So i admit the focus is not there but the 127ED shows a heap of promise. the moonlite focuser is light years ahead of the crappy one supplied with scope originally.

no need to be nice Allan - - they are very average shots. i am extremely happy with the focuser. the motor focus is sweet. I get my focus mask next week so it should be a great combination:whistle:

Nice shots Dave. Glad to see you out and about once more! The photos look nice and clean, always a welcome sight with a new ‘scope.

Wait until the Bahtinov Mask(s) arrive – focusing blues will be a thing of the past!

Cheers

Dennis

Great Earthshine there and no colour fringing, so it looks like its a great scope there mate :)
I see you got some mountain tops sun illuminated on left side of moon too!

yes I did notice that when i had a look at the originals - just lucky I guess. I setup and pulled it down all within 1.5 hours. LOL this cloud is driving me nuts. I know the next few days will be crap. Maybe can get the moon with an approaching storm - who knows

Look out folks. He's got a scope in his hands and he's not afraid to use it!!!!! :scared:

LOL Narayan with the images you produce i would have thought that resistance is futile.......LOL.

please note the AUSSIE DOLLAR IS GETTING LOWER - its 78 cents tonight which in realistic terms means its worth 75 cents. So $546 USD is getting dearer........ you could wait - but I suspect that it will go as low as 65 cents in the next few months:sadeyes: but i am glad I bought up big - i got the scope when the dollar was 96 cents, the flats box when it was 89 cents and a few other trinkets....before it went below 85 cents.

paul focus is critical with this scope, if you are out ajust a little you get blue fringe, when it is spot on there is nothing. I am so looking forward to imaging sometime this century:screwy:

Does anyone else find the juxtaposition of these two statements hilarious too ? :poke:

Seriously though, glad to hear the focuser is a huge improvement over the original Dave.
These are terrific shots mate, I really like #3 !

Nice Earthshine shot Dave! looks like the 127ED has great color correction even if your focus was slightly off. But I can`t tell at all as they look sharp to me!
cheers

Thanks Gary for the rap - but unless the seeing was terrible I think my focus was out slightly as the images are a tad soft. as a result the very bright parts do exhibit some blue/violet fringing. When the focus is spot on there is no colour fringing - Allan Gould can vouch for this.

that light shining through a peak on the moon at the limb is really cool

In reply to your comment about the focusing mask + motorfocus being a good combo, I have my mask for the C11 + Moonlite motor focus and DAMN its easy... fast steps to get you really close, then slow the pulses right down and nudge in at a rate that is so fine that I cant see the focuser moving.... Its brilliant..

Glad to hear you got the scope outside at any rate Dave.. :)
