135mm Widefield Result

Hi Guys, last night I had this great idea of running 2 5D's at the same time, one on the Tak and one with a Canon 135mm F/2.0L on the same platform. :rolleyes:

Errr, not the best plan :screwy: but I did get a sort of result from the F/2.0 Lens, I wasn't going to post this, but hey, you get some good ones and then some bad ones, and this one isn't that flash, but have a look anyway and tell me what you think.

The conditions were pretty poor as well, anyway that is my excuse.:whistle:

It is a full wide field, of the Milky Way area, including m20 and m8.

The image consists of only 27 one minute exposures@ F/2.0, @ 400 ISO, with the 5D and perched on the imaging platform next to the Tak, processed in IP and PS2.

Please be a critical as you like, because I don't really like it much :lol:

Hi leon,
I don't think the 200kb jpeg limit really does widefield Milky Way shots any justice. And, M8/M20 only start to look themselves at around 200mm+.
Point that 135mm at the LMC or SMC to show its real potential I reckon.
The image looks sharp though and you know better than me that if you push the xposures you'll pull out that extended nebulosity on the lagoon.
Now 27x5min exps...drool!!

That's a nice image, Leon. Just a bit muted. Could use some colour saturation and a bit of levels/curves work.

My thoughts are much like the rest of the group... larger file size, longer exposures and perhaps a tweak of the saturation and curves...

A fine effort Leon. I don't know why you are not happy with this. I really like it. :)

The Lagoon and Triffid really stand out amongst the Milky Way and it is really sharp.

I agree with the others. A slight tweak in the levels and curves will help to bring out the hidden data a bit more and don't forget about longer exposures.

Thank You Matt,,yea mate you are not wrong about the wind of late, but then October is always notorious for that sort of weather.

Actually it was good to out very late last night, or should I say early, there is plenty to see and do in the coming month.
