NGC2070 Tarantula Nebula LRGB

Hi Guys

Since theres not much else in view for me now, I took some 30hrs of Ha, 10hrs Lum and 4 hrs each of RGB over the last month.

The Ha turned out not suitable for HaRGB, ill use it later in a NB mix.

I also took 5 hrs odd of exposures with a 5nm continuum filter. Its frequency response is just outside Ha, so you get an image with only stars, very usefull for layer masks and selections in PS. This NGC2070 has some Ha stars substituted for overblown and bloomed Lum stars.

The colour is not too saturated, its hard to find a good sample to compare with at this FL (2m). The good ones ive seen dont push the red on this object.

Wow that is a beauty Fred, 30 hours, boy, that is some imaging, but in your case it certainly paid off, very nice indeed.

actually the 30 hours has been saved for a another (rainy) day..but still t14 hours is still serious exposure ...and a fine result

Amazing image Fred. I don't think I have seen such a detailed Tarantula before.

I colour is actually very well balanced. Not too saturated but not too dull.

Another amazing piece of work Fred! you have achieved quite a..?.. "unique" look in a common target again.

One must admire your tenasity that's for sure, tis a real pitty you can't do these marathon shots from a true dark sky and in LRGB, the mind boggles as to what you would be able to capture! Looking at your web site your choice of targets is obviosuly pretty restricted, quite a few repeats of the same objects on there now..? :sadeyes: not that that's a bad thing per se all images are fun to do even if just to satisfy an insatiable hunger to image :scared:..plus you improve each time you revisit the same target I guess?

Mike. Yes, I basically can only image east to the meridian, and as far south as to where the Tant is now, so I repeat stuff. I dont mind as long as they get better each time.

The Tant is a bit messy, hard to get that 3D effect.
